We are looking for a permanent part-time English as a Second Language Instructor to work at our St. Joseph Adult School to support our ESL day school program. This position reports to the Manager Continuing & Community Education in collaboration with an ESL Coordinator in the program.
Anticipated Locations/Assignments:
St Joseph Adult School - CLB 4 (in person) mornings Monday to Friday
9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon (15 hours per week)
The assignment involves:
Using various tools/apps to teach language and employment skills in person or online
Create content for the specific curricula that is appropriate to the CLB levels of the course
Implement and maintain learner skills progress and accurate attendance records
Ability to interact occasionally at a professional level as a representative of the Continuing Education department with other departments and various administrative staff if required
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Valid TESL Ontario Certification (OCELT) and be a member in good standing
Previous general ESL teaching experience with various CLB or ESL levels
Demonstrated strong expertise in using learning technologies effectively to teach in person or online various CLB level ESL or LINC classes (include specific examples and describe in your CV and/or letter of application)
Proven understanding and application of PBLA with learners
Proven collaboration cross-cultural and instructional design planning skills
Any of the following are considered assets:
Experience working in Job Readiness / Employment / Skills or Trades Training programs
Work Experience in various industry(ies) or sector(s) or trade(s) ideally in a training or lead role
Proof of ability to integrate those skills into a curriculum
Experience working with employers and in program promotion
Candidates will be selected on the basis of their qualifications and experience.
The salary for this position is $43.22 an hour (plus 4% vacation pay and 3.8% statutory holiday pay).
The start date is as soon as possible.
