Organisational Profile
GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting of about 200 staff GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health Social Services Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.
GEGAC advocates for the self-determination of the Aboriginal community by prioritising services that enhance social emotional and spiritual wellbeing with culture at the heart of everything we do.
Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to develop and implement a high-quality developmentally appropriate educational program aligned with the approved curriculum framework and in consultation GEGAC Early Years program for children attending Dala Yooro.
The role is responsible for ensuring that each childs learning and developmental needs are met within a culturally safe and enriching Aboriginal environment supporting their holistic growth and school readiness.
Key Selection Criteria
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal culture with the ability to liaise with and support the local Community.
Demonstrated capability to meet the key responsibilities of the position.
Demonstrated understanding of quality frameworks and continuous quality improvement processes.
Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of early childhood development and education.
Demonstrated understanding of the Early Years Learning and Development Frameworks and Nation Quality Framework.
Demonstrated ability to develop document and implement a developmentally appropriate program for preschool children with parental involvement essential.
Computer skills including Microsoft Work email and internet searches.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
Valid drivers licence ESSENTIAL
Current First Aid CPR Anaphylaxis and EpiPen ESSENTIAL
Must hold an approved early childhood teaching qualification recognised under the Education and Care Services National Law and ACECQA and hold (or be eligible for) Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration at the time of employment ESSENTIAL
Hold a Supervisor Certificate and be able to fill the Nominated Supervisor role if required under the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011 ESSENTIAL
A satisfactory Victorian Working with Childrens Check and a satisfactory National Police Check Clearance ESSENTIAL
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination to align with GEGAC requirements ESSENTIAL
A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander background DESIRABLE
