About the Position:

Strategic Communications and Brand Management plays an integral role in helping to shape and strengthen the institutions brand and advance in a wide range of institutional effectiveness. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Media Production Specialist I. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity openness flexibility integrity and kindness.

The Media Production Specialist I plays a key role in bringing Cal State Fullertons visual storytelling to life. As a member of the Strategic Communications team this position supports the planning production and organization of digital assets that elevate the universitys brand strengthen marketing efforts and enhance reputation-building initiatives. Works under the supervision of the Associate Director of Digital Media and provides assistance at every stage of the creative process from pre-production logistics and studio coordination to post-production editing and digital asset organization. This position ensures that creative work runs smoothly assets are well-maintained and accessible and production operations remain efficient and high-quality. Working collaboratively with colleagues across marketing editorial social media web and media relations the Media Production Specialist I contributes to every phase of production. The ideal candidate is highly organized detail-oriented and adaptable and someone who can thrive behind the camera in the editing suite or coordinating multiple projects through to final delivery. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field and six months of experience in still and motion picture photography including a thorough knowledge of video production techniques. Working knowledge of techniques materials and equipment used in the production of instructional media and related communication assignments. Working knowledge of full range of production techniques including sound recording graphics television photography videotaping lighting editing methods and equipment. Ability to set up and operate a wide variety of production equipment including set-up for multi-camera video productions and distance learning classrooms. Ability to learn techniques in the development of television film radio or multimedia productions. Basic computer skills to operate digital and analog production-related editing and duplication equipment. Basic photography skills such as film speed light and color requirements. Ability to perform photographic processing including an understanding of photographic chemicals and working knowledge of darkroom and development practices. Ability to use and maintain studio camera and related equipment. Knowledge of safety requirements including how to handle hazardous chemicals and materials. Solid writing and editing skills including a strong foundation in English grammar. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain working relationships with staff and students.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years of related professional experience. Demonstrated ability to support multiple projects and meet deadlines. Proficiency in digital asset management systems metadata tagging and file organization. Strong understanding of production coordination scheduling and on-site logistics. Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop Bridge and Premiere Pro. Knowledge of photography videography lighting and audio equipment setup and maintenance. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Creative proactive and able to work independently or as part of a collaborative team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with students faculty staff and alumni. High degree of professionalism reliability and customer service orientation. Ability to write and communicate clearly using correct grammar and professional tone.
