Job Description Summary
As a member of the Fleet Airfoil Cooling & Thermal Design team you will be an active contributor to the the cooling and sealing design thermal and flow analysis for one or more hot gas path components including blades nozzles and shrouds in our industrial gas turbines. The candidate will own the cooling design and cooling flows which have huge impact on engine performance and part life. The individual will be involved in the full life cycle of the product including new product introduction engine validation and field issue resolutions.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design and analyze the thermal/fluid aspects of heavy-duty gas turbine hot gas path components (rotating/stationary airfoils and adjacent components) under the direct guidance of a technical leader while demonstrating autonomy in problem solving
- Perform thermal and flow analysis using GE Vernovas suite of in-house tools as well as commercial tools for CFD or FEA.
- Support gas turbine design from conceptual design through to detailed design as well as manufacturing qualification activities.
- Support component and gas turbine engine testing including test planning test execution and monitoring and post-test validation analyses.
- Support installed fleet by addressing manufacturing deviations product cost out efforts and customer issue root cause analyses as needed.
- Work closely with performance aerodynamic mechanical and other cross functional teams to ensure successful program execution.
- Document report and review design and analysis results with team members component owners customers and leadership by ensuring designs and methods meet established GE Vernova design practices and design templates.
- Demonstrate qualities of the pillars of the Vernova Way and execute with priority of in order of Safety Quality Delivery Cost Customer and Culture (SQDCCC).
- Mentor early career staff.
What youll bring (Basic Qualifications)
- Advanced experience in Aero/Thermal Engineering with a minimum of Bachelors Degree in Engineering discipline (Mechanical Aerospace or Comparable) or equal relevant experience.
- Demonstrated mentorship and project accountability.

- Ability to travel up to 10% annually

- Minimum of 8 years experience in Hot Gaspath cooling design

- Ability to understand customer requirements and translate to project scoping
- Broad knowledge of turbomachinery specifically with mechanical and thermal design as well as manufacturing processes
- Demonstrated understanding of heat transfer design methods gas turbine systems and/or aerodynamics as a technical expert
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and organizational skills

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position the pay range for this position is between $111200.00 and $185400.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110% 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates experience education and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
