Process Engineer (6-Month Contract)

Reports To: Engineering Manager
Location: Northeast Central
Contract Length: 6 Months
Position Summary
The Process Engineer is responsible for providing comprehensive process engineering support across all manufacturing departments. This role ensures consistent adherence to standard operating procedures supports business continuity leads process improvements and contributes to the development and refinement of manufacturing methods. The Process Engineer also supports new product introductions by collaborating with cross-functional teams and offering technical expertise during process or equipment implementation.
Principal Responsibilities
Engineering & Process Support
Provide daily process engineering support to manufacturing operations to ensure consistent and compliant production.
Troubleshoot equipment and process issues through hands-on inspection and root-cause analysis; order replacement parts as needed.
Support new equipment start-up debug and process validation activities.
Assist in developing and maintaining PLC-controlled processes including evaluating and implementing equipment software parameters.
Revise equipment and part drawings using CAD software.
Continuous Improvement & Documentation
Initiate process improvement activities to enhance efficiency yield and cycle times.
Lead tasks or sub-projects within larger product or process improvement initiatives.
Incorporate best practices into operations documentation and support updates to SOPs and work instructions.
Assist in audit deliverables and CAPA investigations as assigned.
Product & Process Development
Support new product launches by collaborating with QA R&D Regulatory Maintenance Operations and other key functions.
Coordinate Engineering Change Notices involving design materials and process changes.
Coordinate product and packaging distribution and shelf-life testing.
Contribute to process evaluations and validations under the guidance of senior and quality engineering staff.
Supplier & External Collaboration
Provide technical support when interacting with suppliers of key components and equipment.
Address supplier continuity issues to prevent manufacturing disruptions.
Performance Expectations
Successful implementation of new products and processes.
Reduction in manufacturing errors; measurable improvement in process yields and cycle times.
Timely completion of audits and associated actions.
Effective knowledge transfer and feedback to production teams.
Demonstrated continuous process improvement.
Other Responsibilities
Perform additional duties and assignments as directed by management.
Qualifications
Masters OR Bachelors degree with 26 years of relevant experience.
Degree in Mechanical Chemical Biomedical Industrial Engineering or a related engineering field.
Familiarity with CAD software (preferred).
Green Belt or experience with 5S/Lean Manufacturing methodologies (preferred).
Experience with PLC programming (preferred).
