JOB SUMMARY: The School of Journalism and Communication is seeking an experienced qualified individual to bring his or her creativity energy and academic and professional excellence to the SJC.
The successful candidate will have teaching and/or industry experience (preferably both) and be able to teach a variety of courses based on expertise in strategic communication public relations media writing social media and/or public addition the ideal candidate would have industry specific accomplishments to support his or her qualifications. The SJC is especially interested in receiving applications from individuals who are capable of inspiring students have a strong commitment to Christ and will be a strong team player.
DUTIES- Teach undergraduate courses
- Advise students
- Develop growth nurturing initiatives
- Participate in department and university committees
- Help oversee student projects clubs (i.e. PRSSA) tours and more.
- Help nurture a culture of scholarly and professional engagement
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION:Masters degree in Communication or a sub-field of Communication (i.e. Public Relations Strategic Communication Speech Integrated Marketing Communication Journalism) is required (Ph.D. strongly preferred).
EXPERIENCEMinimum of 3 years of industry experience or 3 years of teaching experience.
Special Requirements:A strongly expressed commitment to Jesus Christ the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church an SDA church member in good and regular standing.Typical Physical Demands:Requires sitting standing bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers fax machines calculators and telephone. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
Working Conditions:Essential tasks are performed under normal office/school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. Work area is well lighted and ventilated.
