The Software Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing a suite of APIs that are used by millions of consumers daily under the guidance and supervision of senior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the full development process: design development testing and deployment under direct supervision
- Maintain and enhance existing code focusing on practical implementation
- Collaborate with team members to create and improve development documentation
- Produce unit-tested software that meets defined requirements with high quality
- Adhere to the software development lifecycle throughout the development process
- Work within an agile Scrum team following all agile principles
- Engage with business units to clarify requirements and specifications
- Work collaboratively on some tasks and independently on others
- Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality product development
Essential Requirements:
- 2 years of hands-on software engineering experience
- Strong understanding of development best practices and standards (e.g. design patterns coding standards)
- Ability to learn new technologies and apply them to build applications
- Proficient in Git including branching and version control
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a self-driven approach to learning
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience
- Experience with Python development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with REST API development
- Strong knowledge of SQL and database design
- Familiarity with high-volume API services caching distributed processing replication and performance profiling (dependent on team)
- Basic Linux system administration skills
