Construction Demathieu & Bard (CDB) Inc. is the Canadian subsidiary of Demathieu Bard a company based in France with over 160 years of experience in the construction industry and has been operating in Canada since 1997.
CDB specializes in major infrastructure construction and rehabilitation and is known for its innovative complex construction methodologies and adaptability when undertaking challenging projects. As the general contractor construction manager and/or project manager CDB continues to successfully deliver complex and challenging projects particularly heavy infrastructure projects such as bridges canals dams tunnels culverts and viaducts.
Job Description
This is a full-time position for Construction Demathieu & Bards joint venture (referred to as Leaside Valley Builders) with EBC on the Don Valley Crossings project in East York. The expected project duration is four years (estimated completion date: September 2028). Regular office hours are 7am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday however hours can vary depending on project requirements.
Reporting to the project manager as the Senior Project Coordinator Change Management you will be responsible for implementing and overseeing projects schedules. The Senior Project Coordinator Change Management collaborates with project managers as well as other internal and external stakeholders setting tasks and monitoring the execution of project timelines as well as preparing project progress and performance evaluation reports.
Responsibilities
Scheduling:
- Consult with project managers and technical experts to set up assignments tasks and subtasks to ensure satisfactory execution of project contracts
- Develop implement and maintain an effective scheduling management system
- Monitor project timelines and deadlines
- Identify potential project schedule delays and facilitate intervention in a timely manner
- Accommodate updates and changes to project schedules
- Recommend actions to keep projects within budget and scheduled timelines
- Document project scheduling processes and maintain records
- Visit project site to monitor implementation of schedules
Project Coordination:
- Responsible for material takeoffs quantities and ordering
- Track project progress against budgets and schedules
- Monitor project work according to technical specifications and drawings
- Support Project Manager and site Superintendent as required
- Attend project meetings and take part in project planning
- Prepare meeting agendas / minutes and weekly work schedules
- Work with project personnel to solve challenges and recommend solutions
- Review and transmit shop drawings and other submittals
- Manage change notices and change orders
- Prepare RFIs TMRs and work procedures
- Prepare progress payments
- Other responsibilities as required
Cost Analysis & Claims:
- Benchmarking reports & Cost reports
- Unit rate analysis
- Undertaking change cost tracking & management
- Support research related to construction change conditions throughout project scope including analysis of official project data (navigating internal project server)
- Develop and manage cost impact summaries while ensuring expenditure traceability.
- Reviewing commercial claims
- Post-claim cost management including forecasting change management cost reconciliations cost reporting (meaning building a construction financial impacts claim for an event that has already occurred)
- Prepare and evaluate supporting claims reporting through analysis of prime contract as well as sub-contracts
- Conduct financial variance analyses/audits and recommend corrective actions
- Support project team with monthly progress payments
Qualifications required
Education and Experience
Diploma in Project Management and Civil Engineering or relevant area / combination with experience
5 years of progressive experience as a scheduler in Heavy Civil construction setting
Certification as a PMI scheduling professional (PMI-SP) will be advantageous
Extensive experience in schedule planning and management
In-depth knowledge of the scope of projects within the industry
Advanced ability to evaluate project progress and facilitate interventions
Ability to keep stakeholders informed of project timelines and changes
