Job Summary

Our client is a well-respected manufacturer of beauty and cosmetic products in the US dedicated to transforming the industry using sustainable practices - one stroke at a time.

They are seeking a meticulous and highly-driven Quality Director with extensive experience across customer/supplier/NPI quality management compliance audits QMS and production QC. Candidates from the beauty FMCG pharma and consumer electronics industries are strongly preferred.

Fluency in Mandarin and professional working fluency in English is REQUIRED.

This position is based onsite in Tianjin but is also open to candidates willing to relocate from other parts of China.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quality Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and implement the plants quality strategy in alignment with corporate objectives and customer requirements.
  • Provide leadership to the supplier quality production QC customer quality lab compliance and document control teams.
  • Build a strong quality culture centered on accountability prevention and continuous improvement.
  • Drive adoption of advanced quality tools data analytics and predictive methodologies.

Quality Systems Compliance & Audits

  • Oversee the QMS to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and lead plant certification for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits (customer audits CSR compliance audits regulatory audits).
  • Ensure all departments maintain adherence to quality environmental and safety system requirements.
  • Supervise document control activities for quality environmental social responsibility FSC GMP and technical documents.

Production Quality Control & Process Assurance

  • Oversee in-process and final quality inspections to ensure product conformity and performance.
  • Define and improve process control plans sampling strategies and quality gates.
  • Maintain authority to stop production in case of major deviations or nonconforming results.
  • Lead root cause analysis corrective and preventive actions and improvement programs for internal defects.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for all customer quality issues.
  • Ensure timely and professional resolution of customer complaints guiding teams through 8D 5-Why and Ishikawa methodologies.
  • Monitor customer quality metrics and scorecards driving improvement plans where gaps exist.
  • Strengthen customer communication trust and long-term partnership.

Customer Quality Management

  • Serve as the senior escalation point for all customer quality issues.
  • Ensure timely and professional resolution of customer complaints guiding teams through 8D 5-Why and Ishikawa methodologies.
  • Monitor customer quality metrics and scorecards driving improvement plans where gaps exist.
  • Strengthen customer communication trust and long-term partnership.

Supplier Quality Management

  • Oversee incoming quality control processes and supplier performance.
  • Ensure timely resolution of supplier quality issues and drive supplier corrective action and improvement programs.
  • Support vendor audits and compliance with social responsibility and environmental requirements.

New Product Introduction (NPI) Quality

  • Lead quality activities for new product launches including FMEA MSA control plan development and PPAP.
  • Support sample builds and ensure early-stage process stability.
  • Conduct pre-launch quality readiness reviews and line audits.
  • Ensure lessons learned are documented and integrated into future projects.
  • First Pass Yield (FPY) / Outgoing Quality performance.
  • Customer complaint response time and 8D closure rate.
  • Customer scorecard results.
  • Internal and external audit findings.
  • Supplier PPM and supplier corrective action performance.
  • Repeat issue rate and CAPA effectiveness.
  • Compliance audit pass rate (target: 100%).


REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 10 years of quality leadership experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and relevant industry standards; experience with ISO 14001/45001 preferred.
  • Previous success in customer-facing quality roles with OEM/Tier 1 customers and global brands.
  • Expertise with quality tools such as FMEA PPAP APQP SPC MSA 8D Control Plans.
  • Experience with customer quality portals (VW GM BMW Tesla) preferred.
  • ASQ certifications (CQE CQM etc.) preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and strong professional working fluency in English is required.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Quality Mechanical Engineering or related technical fields.
