Position Description: ONLINE HEALTH
The Role
ABC Radio Nationals Science team is looking for an Online Health Reporter with highly developed writing and editing skills to join the digital team.
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced specialist health reporter to join one of Australias leading science teams.
Reporting to the EP Science digital you will:
- Source research write and produce audience-focused health and medical research stories for the ABC News website and other social platforms.
- Write and produce the ABC Health weekly newsletter.
- Produce and edit a range of digital content across the Science team on a regular basis.
- Develop and maintain contacts in the health and medical research community.
- Work collaboratively with your colleagues in the digital team and other teams across the ABC.
- Deliver stories which resonate and reflect the experience of Australian audiences including outer-suburban CALD First Nations and disability communities.
About You
This is a role for an experienced journalist with a passion for telling evidence-based stories about health. You will have significant track record sourcing and writing high-quality health and medical research news and unpacking health concepts that are important to the Australian public.
You will bring:
- Advanced research writing editing and production skills.
- Highly developed editorial judgement.
- A proven ability to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- A deep understanding of the health sector and contacts in the health and medical research community.
- A strong focus on teamwork and maintaining positive working relationships with other team members reporters and other ABC staff and contacts.
- Story ideas that resonate with an Australian audience including people in outer-suburban CALD First Nations and disability communities.
