Job Summary

Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is one of the largest school divisions in Alberta serving the educational needs of approximately 17750 students in 43 schools. EIPS is recruiting six (6) temporary full-time (1.0 FTE) Literacy and Numeracy Intervention Teachers with our Support for Students department. Position details are below. Please indicate your positional preference in your cover letter to show your interest in one or more of the positions

Supports for Students is located at the Trillium Centre 121 Crimson Drive Sherwood Park. Central administration is comprised of eight departments in addition to the Board of Trustees. The departments include Education Executive Communication Services Facility Services Student Transportation Human Resources Financial Services Supports for Students and Information Technologies. Supports for Students provides services for the division in a variety of areas including curriculum assessment pedagogy and educational technology.

The successful applicants who are continuous teachers with EIPS will be able to return to their current school/position for the 2026-27 school year.

Position Details:

1.Grade 4 and 7 Literacy and Numeracy Teacher - Home school is Mundare and will also be supporting Lamont and Vegreville.

SFS is looking fora1.0 FTE teacherto work with at-risk students inmultipleEIPSschoolsin Mundare Lamont and Vegreville. The teacher will work directly with students providing pull-outliteracy and numeracy interventionsupport for students in grades 4 and 7. The teacher willworkwith consultants in co-planning as well as the development and delivery of lessons. This position will requiretravel;mileage will be compensated.

2. Grade 4 and 7 Literacy Teacher - Home school is in Fort Saskatchewan and will be supporting Fort Saskatchewan Bruderheim and possibly Ardrossan schools.

SFS is looking fora1.0 FTE teacherto work with at-risk students inmultipleEIPSschoolsin Fort Saskatchewan Bruderheim and possibly Ardrossan. The teacher will work directly with students providing pull-outliteracy interventionsupport for students in grades 4 and 7. The teacher willwork withconsultants in co-planning as well as the development and delivery of lessons. This position will requiretravel;mileage will be compensated.

3. Grade 4 and 7 Numeracy Teacher - Home school is in Fort Saskatchewan and will be supporting Fort Saskatchewan Bruderheim and possibly Ardrossan schools.

4. Grade 4 and 7 Literacy Teacher - Home school is the Trillium Center in Sherwood Park and will be supporting Sherwood Park schools.

SFS is looking fora1.0 FTE teacherto work with at-risk students inmultipleEIPSschoolsin Sherwood Park. The teacher will work directly with students providing pull-outliteracy interventionsupport for students in grades 4 and 7. The teacher willworkwith consultants in co-planning as well as the development and delivery of lessons. This position will requiretravel;mileage will be compensated.

5. Grade 4 and 7 Numeracy Teacher - Home school is the Trillium Center in Sherwood Park and will be supporting Sherwood Park schools.

SFS is looking for a 1.0 teacher to work with at-risk students in multiple EIPS schools in Sherwood Park. The teacher will work directly with students providing pull-out numeracy intervention support for students in grades 4 and 7. The teacher will work with consultants in co-planning as well as the development and delivery of lessons. This position will require travel; mileage will be compensated.

6. Grade 2 READ Teacher and Grade 4 Literacy Teacher - Home school is the Trillium Center in Sherwood Park and will be supporting Elk Island Public Schools.

SFS is looking fora1.0 teacher to work with at-risk students inmultipleEIPSschools. The specific locations are yet to be determined. The teacher will work directly with students providing pull-outliteracy interventionsupport for students in grades 2 and 4. The teacher willworkwith consultants in co-planning as well as the development and delivery of lessons. This position will requiretravel;mileage will be compensated.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education degree
  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Experience and knowledge of literacy best practices in Division 1
  • Participation in Early Literacy Initiative Level 1 and Level 2 is an asset
  • Effective organization and time management skills
  • Knowledge of strong instructional strategies and differentiation
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Experience or familiarity with analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice
  • Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals
  • Experience or familiarity with SharePoint and various technologies Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams
  • An understanding of the Alberta Provincial Resource Review Guide
  • Knowledge and understanding of the use of artificial intelligence platforms
  • A commitment to Teaching Quality Standard 5 Applying Foundational Knowledge about First Nations Métis and Inuit
