IT Systems Analyst 3 - Applications and Software Development
Location: Austin Texas (Remote)
Contract Duration: January 19 2026 through August 31 2026
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST
Our client is seeking a highly experienced IT Systems Analyst with deep application and software development expertise to support a large-scale modernization initiative. This role focuses on analyzing legacy Java EE applications documenting system behaviors identifying improvement opportunities and helping guide the transition toward modern cloud-ready architectures.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements evaluate system capabilities and ensure modernization efforts preserve critical functionality security and performance. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is comfortable working with complex enterprise systems and enjoys bridging business analysis with technical transformation.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyze existing Java EE components including EJB JPA and SOAP services to support modernization strategy and architectural decisions
* Conduct system walkthroughs to document current behaviors integration points data flows and dependencies
* Participate in application rationalization code reviews and transformation planning
* Collaborate with architects analysts and business stakeholders to translate legacy system logic into modern design requirements
* Support cloud-native migration efforts including containerization microservices concepts and API-driven architecture
* Use AI-powered code analysis tools to evaluate legacy Java EE systems and extract business rules
* Document technical requirements design considerations and existing patterns found within legacy applications
* Validate requirements and findings with cross-functional partners to ensure accuracy and alignment
Required Qualifications
* 12 years of hands-on Java and Java EE development experience including EJB JPA SOAP services and legacy system analysis
* 12 years of experience with Java SE 1.8 and Java EE 8 in enterprise environments
* 12 years working with object-relational mapping and persistence layer integration
* 10 years collaborating with architects business analysts and security teams
* 8 years working with AI-driven code analysis tools or similar technologies
* 8 years of DevSecOps exposure including automated testing deployment and monitoring
* 8 years supporting cloud-focused modernization including containerization and scalable architectures
* 8 years working within Agile teams on sprint planning and backlog refinement
* Strong problem-solving analytical documentation and design pattern knowledge
* Minimum 2 years of experience using AI development tools

* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* Experience in requirements gathering documentation and stakeholder engagement
