Overview:
Join our Network team and kick-start your career in IT! Youll work alongside experienced engineers gaining hands-on experience in maintaining and improving the Universitys network services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with network support and troubleshooting.
- Supporting maintenance tasks such as switch configuration patch/cable management and equipment testing.
- Monitoring network performance and availability.
- Helping with planned upgrades and hardware replacements.
- Recording and closing incidents following established processes.
- Youll also complete structured training leading to a Level 4 Network Engineer qualification.
Required skills:
- Demonstrable IT skills gained through a formal role education or hobby.
- Experience working in a team to deliver high-quality services.
- Experience providing advice and guidance to customers and colleagues.
- Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills and ability to build effective relationships.
- Strong digital competence (Microsoft 365 email internet).
- Ability to solve problems independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of health and safety issues.
- Ability to participate in networks to share good practice and exchange information.
- Enthusiastic and motivated learner.
- Team player with flexibility and adaptability.
- Calm under pressure with attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new technologies.
- Organised and self-disciplined.
Entry requirements:
- an A-Level in ICT
- OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 ICT
- OR a Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
- OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working hours: 36.5 hours per week.
