Job Summary

The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Precedents Developer to join our Brisbane office on a permanent full-time or part-time basis (3-5 days per week).

You will be part of a dynamic team with direct access to the Precedents Manager Chief Information Officer and supervising Principal and have the opportunity to develop your skills as a document automation style Word and workflow expert for a mid-tier growing semi-national law firm.

Core duties and responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Develop maintain and update Word & PDF legal precedents and templates using Hotdocs software.
  • Automate and code Word & PDF templates using HotDocs.
  • Format and style Word templates in accordance with firm Style Guide.
  • To support our digital transformation projects assist in transitioning to a new document automation system and updated firm style.
  • Design workflows in our new practice management system (once implemented).
  • Collaborate with lawyers and support staff to gather feedback and make improvements to existing precedents.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of court document updates.
  • Provide training and support to lawyers and support staff on the use of HotDocs Word and precedents/workflow tools.
  • Keep up to date with new legal technologies.
  • Administrative tasks as requested by the Precedents Manager including in relation to online library resources.

Who we are seeking

We are ideally looking for:

  • 3 years experience as a Precedents Developer or Document Automation and Workflow Specialist.
  • Coding ability using HotDocs or equivalent to automate templates.
  • Ability to think creatively in solving template automation issues or designing automation processes.
  • Advanced Word skills including knowledge of Word styles.
  • Commitment to high quality work and compliance with firm style.
  • Strong English grammar skills.
  • Knowledge of legal numbering and sub paragraphing concepts.
  • Knowledge of legal processes and terminology advantageous.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Focus on user experience and efficiency for users.
