As a Senior Backend Engineer at Via youll work within our core R&D center as a member of our Platform team. Youll be part of a team of developers and devops engineers directly contributing to our product by using cutting-edge technologies. Youll take a critical part in our mission to shape the future of transportation affecting tens of thousands of riders daily worldwide.
The Platform Group is a cross-functional group dedicated to building and maintaining the robust foundation on which Via operates. This team is responsible for designing implementing and managing cloud infrastructure Kubernetes clusters CI/CD systems shared services and tools that power our development and production environments.
**This is a hybrid position with the expectation that you will be onsite in NYC 2-3 days a week.**
What Youll Do:
- Design build and maintain scalable backend systems that improve Vias platform.
- Own backend features end-to-end from architecture and implementation to deployment and maintenance.
- Define infrastructure and standards for engineering teams across the company.
- Research and recommend new technologies for our engineering teams.
- Develop a deep understanding of the software and architecture at Via.
- Debug troubleshoot and resolve backend issues to ensure system uptime and performance.
- Work closely with partner teams across the company to enable success.
Who You Are:
- 5 years of experience building robust backend or full-stack software systems.
- Expertise in developing and maintaining APIs distributed systems and efficient database architectures.
- Familiar with cloud platforms CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure tools (e.g. Docker Kubernetes Terraform).
- Skilled in system design debugging and performance optimization.
- Commitment to a collaborative distributed environment imbued with professionalism integrity passion and accountability.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Final salary will be determined by the candidates experience knowledge and skills. Salary reflected does not include equity or variable pay where applicable
- Salary Range: $150000 - $200000 per year
