Assisting After-School children with various social and inter-personal skills
Responsibilities
- Assist other staff members in the pick-up of children from the local public schools and accompanying them back to the Center
- Review childrens homework assignments and assist them in completing them correctly
- Keep accurate records of childrens assignments and progress
- Inform Director of any concerns (social academic etc.) of the students
- Provide tutoring to students when necessary
- Assist and/or organize games crafts and other recreational activities
- Supervise children to and from park playground field trips etc.
- Keep accurate records/tracking slips attendance lunch counts etc.
- Maintain proper staff to student ratio at all times
- All other duties as directed by Corps Officer and/or Director
Qualifications
- At least a Junior or Senior in High School with an outstanding academic report
- Maintain an A or B average in his/her own academic reports
- Be able to walk to and from schools (in assisting with school pick-ups)
- Be able to work outdoors for recreational activities
- Be flexible to assist the Director and/or other staff in any necessary tasks
- Must understand and appreciate the mission of The Salvation Army.
