Father Andrew White School is hiring Extended Care Staff for the current school year.
This role will be for after school hours (2:30pm to 5:30pm with occasional earlier start times due to early dismissal - 12:30pm to 5:30pm)
The Extended Care Staff members will report to the Principal.
The After-School Caregiver is responsible for overseeing and engaging a group of children between the ages of 4 and 12 ensuring their safety well-being and emotional growth during after-school hours. This individual will supervise activities help with homework and foster a positive and nurturing environment. The caregiver will be expected to implement the programs schedule manage group behavior and work collaboratively with other staff.
Job Responsibilities:
â Child Supervision:
â As one of four staff supervise a group of up to 50 children ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Childcare workers should be up moving around and not sitting by themselves or on their cell phone.
â Ensure children are engaged in activities both structured (e.g. homework arts and crafts) and unstructured (e.g. free play games).
â Maintain a safe respectful and positive environment for all children.
â Assist with the social and emotional development of children by encouraging positive interactions and teaching the proper way to resolve conflicts.
â Activity Planning and Implementation:
â Assist in the planning and implementation of daily activities including arts and crafts physical activities and games.
â Ensure age-appropriate activities are available for both younger and older children while promoting teamwork creativity and critical thinking through engaging activities.
â Homework Support:
â Assist children with homework or academic enrichment providing a quiet and conducive environment for learning.
â Communication:
â Maintain clear and positive communication with children parents and other staff members.
â Respectfully provide feedback to parents regarding their childs progress or behavior as necessary.
â Collaborate with other caregivers and staff to ensure smooth program operations.
â Behavior Management:
â Use positive reinforcement and effective techniques to manage behavior.
â Enforce program rules and encourage respectful behavior.
â Address disciplinary issues in a calm yet firm manner and follow up with parents or guardians when necessary.
â Health and Safety:
â Ensure all children are accounted for by taking attendance and having parents sign their children out when picked up. ALWAYS have and accurate count when transitioning.
â Adhere to all health and safety guidelines including emergency procedures and accident reporting.
â Administer first aid when necessary and inform parents/guardians of any health concerns. Basic first aid and CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
â Team Collaboration:
â Work as part of a team with other caregivers and staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment for the children.
â Notify the Director and find yourself a substitute in the event you are unable to show up for work due to illness or vacation.
â Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
â Physical Requirements:
â Ability to sit stand and move around for extended periods.
â Ability to lift up to 25 lbs alone 50lbs with assistance (for carrying supplies or assisting younger children as needed).
â Must be able to quickly respond to emergency situations if they arise.
Working Conditions:
â The position requires working after school hours typically from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM (with occasional earlier start times due to early dismissal: 12:30 PM - 5:30 PM)
â Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
This position pays $20 per hour
