The Lecturer position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering is a full-time non-tenure-track faculty appointment with the primary responsibility of delivering high-quality instruction and fostering student success in the mechanical engineering program. The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate and/or graduate courses utilizing innovative pedagogical methods to engage students and prepare them for professional careers.
The salary is determined in accordance with the Universitys compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates education and experience within the assigned salary range for this position.
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver undergraduate and potentially graduate-level courses in a range of mechanical engineering topics such as thermodynamics fluid mechanics dynamics and solid mechanics; Prepare course materials including syllabi lectures homework assignments and handouts.
Plan and conduct laboratory sessions and supervise student projects including capstone projects; Utilize and promote various teaching methods and technologies including e-learning platforms and computational software.
Administer and grade exams assignments and other student work to assess progress and ensure alignment with accreditation standards (e.g. ABET); Hold regular office hours to provide academic support advice and career guidance to students; and Mentor students who are completing projects or require assistance with course content.
Engage in continuous professional development.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
Two years of related experience.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Ability to teach effectively at the college level.
Good communication skills both written and oral.
Practical knowledge of engineering science and technology applications including relevant software and lab equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
Prior teaching experience at the university level.
Relevant industry or professional experience.
