Cornwall Council is seeking to recruit and appoint two new members to its Independent Remuneration Panel. The Panel plays an important role in developing and recommending a proposed Scheme of Members Allowances for Cornwall Council.
We welcome applications from individuals with experience at a senior level in for example business the voluntary or charitable sectors local government or public administration. Candidates should have an interest in the work of the Council and the ability to understand complex issues and make objective evidence-based recommendations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Please refer to the person specification for further details.
The term of appointment is for four years. It is envisaged that Panel members will be required to attend a number of meetings likely to be held remotely via Microsoft Teams during the period February 2026 to November 2026. Once appointed the successful candidates will work with the remaining Panel member to undertake the review process. The Panels work will culminate in a formal report setting out its recommendations for a revised Scheme of Members Allowances. This report will be presented to full Council for consideration.
This is a voluntary position. While Panel members do not receive remuneration reasonable travel and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed if attendance in person is required.
