Associate Bioinformatician

Pay :
HK$60488 to HK$88333 (HGPS Pt 25 to Pt 33A) per month including Monthly Allowance
Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise plan design implement and maintain in-house and/or commercial bioinformatics pipelines and other computational workflows.
2. Analyze and interpret second and third generation sequencing data.
3. Develop and implement bioinformatics pipelines and algorithms for clinical and research applications.
4. Establish maintain and upgrade in-house and/or commercial tools and databases relevant to bioinformatics data analysis.
5. Explore and perform mining of data to address important biological questions.
6. Troubleshoot the critical issues regarding bioinformatics data analysis.
7. Prepare laboratory documents relevant to bioinformatics such as validations reports and standard operating procedures.
8. Communicate amongst pathologists clinicians and information technologists to meet service and operational needs.
9. Supervise Bioinformatics Analyst and provide training for laboratory and clinical staff on

Entry Requirements:
1. Bachelors degree in Bioinformatics Biomedical Science Clinical Science Computer Science Statistics or a related discipline or equivalent.
2. At least three years of working experience related to the field of bioinformatics.
(a) Experience in working in Unix/Linux environment or equivalent and programming languages such as Python and R or related languages; and
(b) Experience in creating complex workflows/pipelines to analyse large-scale multi-omics data.
Preferred Attributes / Exposure:
1. Post-graduate degree in Bioinformatics Biomedical Science Clinical Science Computer
2. Experience in conducting WES WGS targeted-sequencing and ONT data analysis including small variant and SV/CNV calling annotation and clinical interpretation.
3. Proficient in programming languages such as Python Perl R Java or related languages.
4. Experience in server and computer cluster management.
5. Familiarize with AI techniques for predictive analysis.
6. Experience in leading a research project.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
8. Ability to work within a team or independently and to learn things quickly.
9. Strong sense of responsibility self-motivation and attention to detail.
