We have an immediate opening for a Dryside Weekend Shift Millwright in Grande Prairie Lumber. The successful individual will report to the Dryside Maintenance Team Leader.

Expectations for the Role involve a combination of preventative and corrective maintenance tasks technical skill development and adaptability to business needs.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preventative/Proactive Maintenance: Ensure equipment runs smoothly and efficiently by performing regular maintenance tasks.
• Corrective Repairs: Address and fix equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Technical Training: Participate in training as needed to maintain and improve technical proficiency.
• Clean-Up Duties: Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Support Reliability Improvements: Contribute to improving equipment reliability and Mill efficiency.
• Flexibility: Adapt to evolving business needs and priorities.
• Apprenticeship: Actively participate in the apprenticeship program for skill development and trade certification.
• Weekend Maintenance Shift: Full-time shift work during weekends.

• Technical and Educational Requirements:
• Enroll in the Apprenticeship Program and Achieve Journeyman Certification
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Valid Drivers Licence.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in learning.
• Computer skills particularly in SAP and the ability to achieve competency in Process Logic Control (PLC) systems.
• Problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Experience or aptitude for equipment operations.
• Behavioral and Professional Attributes:
• Commitment to safety standards policies and a low absence level.
• A positive attitude that promotes a collaborative team environment.
• A demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new skills as business needs evolve.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
• Initiative in completing work tasks and pursuing skill development.
• Behavior aligned with the companys safety vision policies and site principles.
• Ability to perform the essential job functions of the position which includes climbing stairs navigating catwalks lifting up to 50 pounds stooping and bending.
• Willingness to interface and collaborate with other trades support groups and resources (e.g. Electrical/Mechanical Reliability Process Controls Operations).
• Ability to work in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment.

Preference Will Be Given To:

• Candidates with a strong knowledge of Grande Prairie Lumber operations.
• Proven technical and leadership skills.
