Green Mountain Unified High School is seeking a caring flexible and dedicated Substitute Special Education Teacher to support students in a Life Skills program serving individuals with moderate to severe disabilities. The substitute will provide instruction in functional academics daily living skills and assist with maintaining a supportive structured classroom environment. This role supports students independence communication and overall success across school Responsibilities:Provide instruction in functional academics and daily living skills according to established lesson plans and student ability implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) developed by teachers parents administrators and related service a variety of teaching strategies to engage students with cognitive disabilities and other qualifying students with daily living skills such as hygiene safety food preparation and basic functional student engagement and behavior collect simple data and communicate any concerns to the appropriate collaboration with paraprofessionals and follow directions for implementing occupational therapy physical therapy and speech-language service a safe organized and positive learning :Bachelors degree Vermont teaching license (Special Education certification preferred).Ability to read and follow instructional plans safety procedures and student support communication skills for working with students staff and to problem-solve and adapt to a variety of structured and unstructured ability to meet classroom needs (e.g. standing walking assisting students occasional lifting up to 20 lbs as needed).
