Job Description:

The manager is responsible for the efficient operation of food service program in an individual school within the budget restraints under the direction and guidance of the Office of Food Service in coordination with the principal. This person performs all related work as required. Supervises and performs preparation of food for breakfasts and lunches; supervises preparation of salads main dishes desserts serving of foods cleaning of dishes and equipment. Plans work and cleaning schedules for staff. Keeps records and makes written reports as required. Accounts for all moneys collected and reconciles accurate meal counts. Follows State and Federal regulations regarding meal pattern and nutritional guidelines assists in evaluating staff and instructs new personnel in methods and procedures of tasks assigned. Job goal is to serve the students consistently attractive tasty and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency cleanliness and hospitality. Leadership capabilities and a good positive attitude in meeting job goals are essential.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and four years experience in food service preferred; or a degree

in foods and nutrition institution management or a related field or a combination of education and experience

equivalent to either of the above.

Requirements:

Knowledge of efficient methods of preparing cooking and serving of foods as planned on the menu; ability to coordinate production to assure high standards of nutrition and food service to students and staff; ability to operate an efficient program within the budget restraints . Ability to read and write English and complete basic math is necessary. Must be able to keep accurate and complete records of inventory as requested and have the ability to requisition proper amounts of food to produce menu. Maintain the ability to extend a recipe and accurately determine food requirements. Ability to organize delegate instruct train supervise evaluate and discipline people. Have computer knowledge and be willingness to learn Mealtime software. The manager shall be receptive to new concepts in Food Service and continue to upgrade skills and training in all phases of school food service. Physical fitness and emotional stability to carry on the responsibilities of the job is a must; abilities to stand and walk for prolonged periods. Requires ability to stoop twist bend reach and grasp; lift up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis and 25 pounds routinely; ability to work under frequent temperature extremes in hot and humid conditions and over heated food service areas. Lane County Food Handlers card is required. Must be courteous and use tact when dealing with people.
