Your new role

As the Associate Director Medical Science Liaison (AD MSL) at Novo Nordisk Canada with the Cardiometabolic team you will lead and develop a field-based MSL team to translate medical strategy into high-impact territory plans. You will ensure scientific excellence compliance with Canadian regulatory standards and the effective capture and elevation of field insights to inform broader medical and business decisions. Your role balances handson coaching stakeholder engagement and crossfunctional collaboration to optimize patient care and team performance.

Some of your responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead and coach the MSL team to deliver on Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement and territory action plans Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics scientific exchange insights generation and communication.
  • Ensure MSL competencies and onboarding standards through training performance management and regular infield coaching.
  • Oversee field operational excellence: track tactical plans budgets expenses and quality and timeliness of CRM (Veeva) documentation.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with KOLs and regional institutions to support optimal patient management
  • Lead the field execution of the cardiometabolic medical strategy
  • Collaborate with key cross functional teams including Sales Marketing Clinical Development and other stakeholders to align field tactics with overall Medical Affairs strategy and operational priorities.

Your Skills and Qualifications

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with the following qualifications:

  • Advanced scientific or health care degree (MD PharmD or PhD). Candidates with a Master plus relevant clinical or commercial experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years in the pharmaceutical industry including at least 3 years as an MSL (or other direct customer facing role) with a proven record of high performance.
  • Proven (3 years) experience leading a diverse teams of direct reports
  • Strong preference for a fully bilingual (English and French) candidate
  • Excellent communication & negotiation skills (written verbal presentation and listening) high customer focus and action orientation with strong selfawareness and emotional intelligence.
  • Deep scientific knowledge (cardiometabolic experience is a strong asset) and solid understanding of the Canadian healthcare and regulatory landscape (Health Canada PAAB IMC);

This is a fieldbased role that is based in Ontario preferrable in the Greater Toronto area (GTA) but will also cover regions in Quebec so you should expect a flexible schedule that sometimes includes evening or weekend activities to meet with stakeholders. The position involves frequent travellocally regionally nationally and occasionally internationallywith travel time of up to 80% often including overnight stays. Were looking for candidates who are legally permitted to work in Canada and hold a valid drivers licence.

Your new department

Reporting to the Medical Director you will lead a team of MSLs while collaborating with Head Office colleagues and other Therapeutic Area Associate Directors of MSLs. You will also work closely with subject matter experts in the Medical and Field Excellence team to ensure appropriate insights analytics and reporting as well as training for the field medical teams. The department fosters a collaborative and cross-therapeutic environment where your leadership will contribute to achieving Novo Nordisks mission of improving patient outcomes.
