Cub Creek Science Camp is a privately owned co-ed sleep-away camp located in the heart of the Missiouri Ozarks. Cub Creek was started in 1993 as a way to share a love of science nature and animals with children. We strive to foster curiosity and teach empathy for each other and the world around us. Our team of program directors are responsible for providing direct supervision and coaching to their assigned group of cabins and activities. They will work collaboratively with the camp leadership team to develop and run staff training and summer programs. Providing regular coaching to staff to aid in their personal and professional growth. During the off season program directors will support primarily with groups and staff hiring. Essential Functions (Summer): Staff & Program Support (60%) Support the development and leading of staff training to create a positive and growth oriented team culture Oversee the summer camp program ensuring safe engaging and memorable experiences for campers and staff alike. Provide appropriate levels of supervision for assigned programs and cabins. Engaging in the 10ft rule and being present and engaged with staff and campers. Provide direct support to staff during camp sessions mentoring problem-solving and fostering a positive work environment Communicate effectively with the leadership team to ensure the smooth operation of camp. Work effectively with the team to deliver exceptional programming and service to campers and families Ensure compliance with all policies and safety practices Camper Support (20%) Support cabin counselors and campers in creating a positive cabin environment Collaborate with counselors to identify the best ways to manage their cabin and campers Coach counselors on the appropriate implementation of behavior management strategies and VERV Paperwork and Administration (20%) Complete weekly schedules for assigned staff members Run morning and weekly staff meetings Complete documentation in a timely manor Other duties and tasks assigned to assist in functioning of camp operations and programs Essential Functions (Off-Season): Manage user groups and facility rentals Market facility and user group programming Support with seasonal staff hiring Support with camper recruitment and marketing events Other tasks as necessary to support the program Physical Demands and Working Conditions: All staff members will be required to work outdoors in all weather. An average of 5 miles of walking is expected each day and all staff must be comfortable walking on uneven ground for extended periods. Comfortable being near a range of animals including snakes spiders lizards and other native- and non-native species. Able to sustain energy and enthusiasm throughout the full work day. Weekend work is required this position requires availability to work on-site 7 days a week for the contract period. Functions activities and working conditions may change or new ones may be added during the course of employment to support the operation of the camp. Required Experience and Skills: Completed at least 3 seasons working in a summer camp - preferably holding a leadership role Experience working with children and/or teens in a camp or educational setting Valid Drivers License A desire to positively impact the life of a child and willingness to put the needs of campers first Have a passion for science animals and childhood development A clear communicator and empathetic listener Self-motivated and able to work on tasks and assigned goals with minimal supervision Be willing to learn new concepts and skills Able to work in a team and both give and take direction from others Willingness to adhere to camps code of conduct rules and policies
