The ideal candidate is a true transformer insulation systems expert someone who brings deep hands-on and broad technical experience across both liquid-filled and dry type transformer technologies. This individual not only understands transformer design and manufacturing but also the entire insulation system ecosystem: materials standards fabrication processes testing methods and industry nuances.
This role focuses on supporting and advancing the application of insulation products across North America and Latin America. The position drives both current technical support and future innovation identifying industry trends and translating them into actionable product development opportunities.
The person in this role will act as a bridge between customers R&D Sales and Marketing. They will work directly with transformer OEMs utilities and industrial end users gathering field insights and unmet customer needs to guide long-term development programs. Responsibilities include designing and executing long-term testing programs interpreting and presenting data advising on insulation system selection and performance influencing standards development and communicating research findings through publications and conference participation.
There is also a strong outward-facing component. The role requires partnering with Sales and Marketing to support customers communicating new technologies and understanding evolving transformer designs insulation systems and industry trends.
Travel is generally less than 25 percent across North America and Latin America with occasional global trips.
Requirements
A BS or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in transformer design manufacturing and insulation system testing.
Expertise in both liquid immersed and dry type transformers including ventilated dry type and VPI technologies.
Strong knowledge of insulation materials including cellulose epoxy systems varnishes esters (natural and synthetic) and UL-recognized insulation systems.
Familiarity with UL requirements and insulation system certifications.
Experience contributing to regional and global transformer standards development (IEEE IEC).
Exposure to high voltage systems and advanced testing methods is preferred.
Experience using structured experimentation (Six Sigma DOE) for material and system optimization.
