About the Role
The SBU Connectivity Portfolio is looking for a Software Core Assets Product Lead to guide the strategy development and delivery of core software assets with a strong software product mindset. This role is essential for enabling our R&D teams to create high-quality reusable software components for OEM Telematics Control Units (TCUs) and cloud-based solutions.
As the Software Core Assets Lead you will connect business strategy engineering and customer needs ensuring our software assets and products meet industry standards and evolving technology trends. You will own all aspects of product developmentfrom requirements analysis to launchand lead a global cross-functional team. Your leadership will drive engineering efficiency reduce time to market and support customer deliveries across multiple projects.
The ideal candidate will have broad technical expertise (including TCU software cloud edge computing AI and 5G) experience leading Agile teams and a strong understanding of the connectivity ecosystem.
This position will have 610 direct reports at senior engineering and management levels with a potential team size of 50-80 employees located in the key SBU Connectivity sites.
What You Will Do
- Product Ownership: Lead planning and execution of software core assets for TCU and cloud (Ready Aware future offering) solutions aligned with SBU and product strategy and roadmap.
- Engineering Leadership: Manage cross-functional global teams delivering scalable high-quality software assets (and software products) using SAFe Agile and CI/CD practices.
- Technology Innovation: Drive differentiation through integration of AI/ML 5G V2X Edge Cloud and Cybersecurity technologies.
- Software Excellence: Champion best-in-class development and testing tools to reduce Cost of Quality (COQ) and improve productivity using AI-driven tools and processes.
- Customer Engagement: Act as technical lead for key stakeholders - supporting RFQs demos and deployments while ensuring satisfaction and continuous improvement.
- Process Optimization: Implement agile best practices backlog management sprint planning and retrospectives to ensure efficient product delivery.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with SBU leadership and product managers to evolve software strategy and align on priorities risks and resources.
- Talent Development: Build mentor and inspire high-performing global engineering teams; promote innovation collaboration and accountability.
- Risk & Budget Control: Oversee execution plans budgets schedules and risk mitigation to ensure delivery excellence and cost performance.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to engineering standards secure development practices and continuous process improvement.
- Continuous Improvement: Conduct post-release evaluations track KPIs and institutionalize learnings for sustained product and team growth.
- Strategic Leadership: Represent HARMAN in customer and partner engagements showcasing innovation and shaping the software roadmap for the SBU.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science Engineering Business Administration) or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience in product development and delivery management product development or related roles with a track record of successful project deliveries.
- A minimum of 20 years of working experience in the automotive or technology industry.
- 10 years of experience in leading high performing & globally distributed engineering teams.
- In-depth knowledge of agile development methodologies and tools with product delivery expertise with a solid understanding of SAFe Agile practices.
- Strong leadership and team management skills ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills enabling effective stakeholder collaboration.
- Familiarity with product development lifecycles including requirements gathering design development testing and deployment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- A broad technical background with general knowledge of cellular and network technology standards cloud-based services software architectures and automotive-grade products and processes.
- Ability to communicate advanced and complex concepts and ideas persuasively/concisely to all levels.
