About the Grand Junction Regional Center:
Grand Junction Regional Center (GJRC) is one of three Regional Centers in Colorado that serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who have intensive needs.
GJRC which dates back to 1919 has both Intermediate Care Facilities/Intellectual Developmental Disabilities (ICF/IDD) homes and Home and Community Based Services Waiver (HCBS Waiver) homes throughout the community. The center serves a diverse population from people who have high abilities but are a high risk to themselves or others to people who have significant medical challenges.
Programs are individualized to meet varying needs. Services provided range from residential services and health services to mental health intervention. GJRC provides day program vocational and specialized habilitation speech occupational therapy therapeutic recreation and nutritional services.
The Clinical Security Officer I (CSO)provides safety oversight crisis intervention and environmental monitoring across GJRC homes and programs to ensure a secure environment for residents staff and property. The CSO also supports agency staff through training de-escalation assistance and adherence to Safety Care standards.
Additionally as a CSO you can expect to:
Perform daily safety checks across ICF HCBS and day program sites documenting findings and reporting concerns promptly.
Identify and address safety or environmental hazards notifying the appropriate staff such as the Safety Team the CSO Lead supervisors or Facility Management as needed
Monitor staff performance related to safety and security and relay relevant observations to supervisors.
Use approved verbal de-escalation and physical intervention techniques consistent with Safety Care and GJRC standards.
Respond to crises involving aggressive or unsafe behaviors using the least restrictive measures.
Assist in searches for AWOL individuals and coordinate safe return or transport to appropriate facilities.
Search environments for dangerous items contraband or weapons and secure them safely when needed.
Collaborate with law enforcement when circumstances require external support.
Support disaster drills and real-time emergency situations ensuring communication with supervisors and leadership.
Provide Safety Care training as a certified instructor and determine if staff require certification or additional training.
Offer coaching and feedback to staff regarding safety procedures and de-escalation expectations.
Assist with agency projects minor maintenance tasks and departmental database support.
Work collaboratively across departments to ensure coverage and operational continuity.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40/hrs per week). Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications.
