Profile of a Natick Educator

JOB GOAL:

Provides instructional leadership including curriculum planning review and implementation and professional development. Responsible for building administration operations and the safety and welfare of both students and staff. Additionally oversees and manages all special education programs and ensures effective implementation of services supports and compliance requirements.

Education

  • Masters degree in education administration and/or special education

Qualifications

  • At least five years of successful teaching experience is preferred.
  • Massachusetts Special Education Administrator licensure required
  • Prior experience as a special education or building administrator is preferred
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Strong communication team-building and organizational skills.

Specialized Knowledge

  • Lead the development and communication of educational goals aligned with the districts vision and grounded in developmentally appropriate practice for preschool-aged children.

  • Provide leadership in organizing and implementing instructional programs and curriculum aligned with state standards early childhood frameworks and evidence-based preschool best practices.

  • Use databoth qualitative and quantitativeto identify strengths address gaps and improve instruction and intervention for all students including early learners and students with disabilities.

  • Apply Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and play-based developmentally appropriate instructional strategies to create inclusive supportive preschool classrooms.

  • Promote equity belonging and culturally responsive practice while ensuring support for diverse abilities backgrounds and learning needs.

  • Provide leadership and oversight of all special education programs within the preschool including compliance with IDEA Section 504 state regulations timelines evaluation processes IEP development service delivery and family communication.

  • Ensure adherence to best practices in early childhood special education including inclusive classroom models data-driven progress monitoring early intervention transitions and collaboration with related service providers.

  • Supervise staff and programs while supporting effective hiring onboarding professional development coaching and evaluations aligned with early childhood and special education standards.

  • Oversee daily school operationsincluding custodial cafeteria transportation and support servicesto maintain a safe developmentally appropriate and functional preschool environment.

  • Establish effective discipline practices rooted in positive behavior supports (PBIS) responsive preschool behavioral strategies and a nurturing school climate.

  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills to manage administrative instructional and compliance-related responsibilities promptly and accurately.

  • Manage budgets responsibly aligning resources with school goals early childhood program needs and special education service requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with School Committee policies district objectives Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) regulations and all applicable state and federal laws.

  • Utilize Google Suite Microsoft Office PowerSchool and other early childhood and special education data systems to support instruction communication and operational efficiency.
  • Review and monitor student IEPs in accordance with the state and federal due process requirements including required written parental notifications within mandated timelines.
  • Develop and provide quality control of Individualized Education Programs generated from the building.
  • Assist with monitoring of IEP development and implementation including providing input related to the effectiveness of school personnel involvement in the IEP TEAM meetings and IEP implementation.
  • Maintain compliance with all Special Education timelines and regulations.
  • Provide consultation to general and special education staff parents and outside agencies relative to special education procedures and programs.
  • Maintain on-going special education data including teacher and service provider caseloads IEP referral/initial evaluation master staffing documents and master caseload data to correlate with powerschool special programs information.
  • Analyze and interpret special education student data performance to inform instructional practices and interventions to address academic and other students gaps in performance
