Job Summary

Mount Mansfield Unified Union School District is hiring a Behavior Interventionist to join their classrooms at Smilie Elementary School. As a Behavior Interventionist you will work closely with a small group of students in a supportive classroom environment. Utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques you will help students develop crucial skills manage their behavior and thrive academically and socially. Youll play a key role in implementing individualized and group behavior plans providing direct and incidental instruction collecting data and facilitating developmentally appropriate reparative work.

We provide comprehensive Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI) training and support for candidates to become Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT).

What Youll Do:

  • Implement Behavior Plans: Work with students individually or in groups to execute tailored behavior plans.
  • Build Relationships: Develop therapeutic relationships with students to support their growth.
  • Engage in Play and Academics: Support students through play-based activities and academic assistance helping them navigate social interactions.
  • Crisis Management: Utilize Nonviolent Crisis Prevention (CPI) training to provide de-escalation crisis management and post-incident support.
  • Data Collection: Maintain and track data collection systems as developed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs).
  • Model Programming: Demonstrate effective programming techniques to school team members.
  • Support Transitions: Assist students in stabilizing before transitioning to lesser levels of support or maintain year-long matches for those with intensive behavior support needs.

  • Excellent Communicator: Possess excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Friendly and Upbeat: Project a friendly and approachable attitude to students staff and families.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma required; Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience working with students understanding student behavior and training in social/emotional practices is preferred not required.
  • Licenses and Endorsements: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or willingness to complete RBT coursework supervised hours and certification exam (paid by MMUUSD).
