Payroll & Benefits Specialist will represent Human Resources in various capacities by communicating information monitoring and processing paperwork for District Clerk employees such as W-4 changes name changes and verification of employment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Process payroll for all full-time employees while verifying that all payroll reports are accurate.
Process all benefit updates and new hires insurance for all full-time employees.
Interacts with all levels of management and employees regarding payroll benefit inquiries and other Organizational updates.
Assists with Job Fairs and with the High School Internship Program.

Qualifying applicants must complete the Harris County District Clerk Skills Test (linked below) with a minimum score of 80%.
Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university
Four (4) years of related experience in a Human Resources environment
Must possess knowledge of STARS (PeopleSoft)
Must possess at least two (2) years of Payroll experience
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Must have excellent presentation analytical decision-making prioritization and organizational skills
Must be capable of working under stress and managing multiple projects simultaneously
Assists with employee and retiree inquiries regarding all aspects of benefits retirement and wellness.
Must be able to work overtime without prior notice and work flexible hours as required
Must be able to maneuver including lifting and moving a minimum of thirty (30) pounds
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills
Must be able to work independently and make sound decisions while meeting time-sensitive deadlines
Must have knowledge and be able to interpret the laws regulations and policies that govern Human Resources issues
Must be eligible for employment in the United States
Testing will be required

Salary:
$28.00 - $32.00 Hourly
Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
