This position assists the District Court Administrator (DCA) by coordinating court services and managing operations within the Berks County Courts. This role focuses on enhancing the efficiency of specialized courts and programs while also aiding in the research planning and implementation of new or revised court policies and local rules serving as a liaison with related departments.
Job Duties
Serves as the primary authority responsible for delivering comprehensive daily executive support to the Court of Common Pleas including oversight of facility maintenance security coordination technology support administrative functions and project management. Leads the planning preparation and execution of all ceremonial and inaugural court events. Acts as the sole point of contact for all support services provided to newly appointed Common Pleas judges.
Develops and maintains a comprehensive stock management plan for all supplies used by the Court of Common Pleas. Ensures that all materials necessary for court operations are available in a timely manner. Coordinates with the Purchasing Office to secure competitive pricing and manages ongoing procurement requirements.
Provides administrative and financial oversight of all law library functions.
Serves as the lead court administrator responsible for preparing managing and monitoring budgets for the Court of Common Pleas Magisterial District Courts Special Masters Adult Probation Juvenile Probation Domestic Relations Court Reporters and the Law Library. Coordinates the entire annual court budget cycle and acts as the President Judges primary liaison to the County Commissioners Controller and Budget Director for all budget negotiations and strategic financial planning for the 23rd Judicial District. Oversees accounts receivable and accounts payable.
Prepares the financial components of all Court grant applications to ensure compliance with required specifications. Completes and submits fiscal reports and audit documentation for all awarded Court grants.
Assists attorneys litigants and the public in understanding and explaining local procedures.
Develops or procures a human resources tool to manage training and professional development for all Court-appointed employees. Administers the system in accordance with the directives of the President Judge (PJ) and the DCA. Coordinates new-hire and recurring training including scheduling instructors. Manages all briefing requirements involving County agencies and external organizations.
Compiles statistical data and conducts studies as requested. Prepares and submits monthly statistical data for the President Judge DCA and AOPC.
Performs administrative duties as directed by the PJ and DCA.
Serves as the Courts Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Judicial Business or Public Administration or a closely related field; PLUS
Three years of experience in court management or four years of varied office management work including professional-level experience in budgeting procurement and human resource management.
An equivalent combination of education experience and/or training may be considered.
