Division:Office of Property & Casualty/Louisiana Fortify Homes Program

The Louisiana Department of Insurance is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Insurance Specialist 1 to join the Office of Property & Casualty/Louisiana Fortify Homes Program. This program helps strengthen homes across Louisiana by supporting homeowners through the grant application and review this role youll review applications and supporting documents verify eligibility for FORTIFIED Roof grants and assist with responding to insurance-related questions and complaints. Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience in insurance administrative services investigations or law enforcement; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR

A bachelors degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

As an Insurance Specialist 1 in the Office of Property & Casualty/Louisiana Fortify Homes Program you will/may:

  • Review homeowner applications for FORTIFIED Roof grants and check that all required documents are complete and accurate.
  • Verify inspection reports insurance information and other materials to help determine eligibility for the program.
  • Assist with basic research and information-gathering for consumer questions or complaints related to property and casualty insurance.
  • Prepare clear helpful correspondence to homeowners insurance agents and others about program requirements or insurance laws.
  • Maintain organized records and handle sensitive information responsibly.
  • Provide customer service by phone and email offering guidance or directing people to the right resources.
  • Support the team with simple rate/rule review tasks and other program needs.
  • Participate in training to learn Louisiana insurance laws and grow in the role.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as needed.

Appointment Type:Probational or Job Appointment

Career Progression:This position is part of a career progression group. Employees will begin as an Insurance Specialist 1 performing entry-level duties and may advance to the journeyman and eventually advanced levels as they gain experience and demonstrate proficiency in the role.

Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
