The Site Manager will manage all processes of corn seed production for a Production Facility to ensure a high-quality reliable supply of seed at agreed costs. Foster an operational culture founded on HSE (Health Safety and Environment) Quality Business Improvement and policy. This role defines the Site strategy and works closely with Production and Supply Leadership to develop the future direction aligned with the overall strategy.
Accountabilities:
- Plans directs and coordinates all phases of field and plant activities including grower contracting field operations harvest drying conditioning treating packaging rework and distribution.
- Defines the present and future Site Strategy.
- Leads all facets of the seeds site operations and accurately recognises future business needs.
- Measures and reports site progress weekly recognises variances and makes adjustments to either meet or exceed plan meet inventory accuracy business goals while adhering to Quality Core Processes.
- Ensures people processes and systems are in place to achieve these goals.
- Responsible for the implementation and training of Quality Management Systems.
- Completes management reviews and ensures the audit schedule is updated and audits are conducted with learning implemented.
- Develops a Continuous Improvement process program that drives efficiency and safety.
- Effectively implements learnings from Non-Conformances Observations Audits and Management Reviews and shares learnings with the broader organisation.
- Meets Operating Budgets for Operations Business Units including COG-P Budgets for Plant Fixed and Variable Costs.
- Responsible for reporting measuring and explaining variances.
- Defines and proposes Capital Investments to deliver HSE quality and financial ROI for the Business.
- Recruits recognises and retains employees to meet the Operations capacity strategies.
- Develops effective Succession and development plans for Syngenta FTEs.
- Implementation of an effective Performance Management program with employee development plans and can recognise needed changes in organisational structure to achieve operational and cost effectiveness.
- Ensures all policies and protocols are up-to-date and are being followed by all employees and contractors.
- Demonstrates critical effectiveness in leading courageously confronting problems directly and challenging other managers/direct reports to make difficult decisions.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications :
- Degree required: Agronomy Ag Engineering Ag Economics or Engineering preferred.
- 8 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Previous experience as a Site Manager Plant Manager or Operations Manager preferred in a Life Science or chemical operation.
- Experience with Continuous Improvement Processes.
- Proven background in effective leadership in safety quality and cost control delivery.
- Competency in coaching and developing people.
- Development of a Site Business/Improvement Plan.
- Digital analytics and business software skills.
- Customer-Focused: Responsive to the needs of internal and external customers particularly dealers and customers in their geographic distribution area.
- Authorization to work in the United States for Syngenta without work authorization sponsorship now or in the future is required.
