About the Role
NAAJAs Civil Law Practice is fast-paced diverse and impactful supporting clients across areas such as tenancy discrimination social security child protection police accountability and victims of crime assistance.
Civil Administration Officers are essential to keeping our civil legal services running smoothly. You will support lawyers by engaging with clients managing appointments maintaining accurate records and carrying out a range of administrative and reception duties. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people thrives in a busy office and is committed to delivering a culturally safe and supportive service.
Strong preference will be given to Aboriginal applicants or non-Aboriginal applicants with experience working with Aboriginal people in the NT.

What Youll Be Doing
- Answer phone calls greet visitors and assist with general reception duties.
- Communicate with clients in a culturally appropriate and respectful manner.
- Arrange appointments and support communication between lawyers and clients.
- Maintain legal files process client intakes and organise prison and interpreter bookings.
- Enter and manage accurate client data using NAAJAs client and document management systems.
- Prepare documents and assist with administrative tasks as directed by lawyers.
- Provide general support to the civil team as required.
- Perform other duties appropriate to the role.
What Were Looking For
- Reliable enthusiastic and committed team members who can work well under supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills especially with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Experience in a busy office environment including phones email data entry and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to take initiative manage tasks meet deadlines and work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to obtain an Ochre Card (Working With Children Clearance).
- Satisfactory criminal history check and no disqualification from working in a legal practice.
