Job Summary

General Summary

The Employee Health Nurse endeavors to promote health and safety to all employees by facilitating an Employee Occupational Program which includes disease detection prevention and treatment of exposures; following up on employee illnesses and injuries: conducting employee health screenings: and promoting a safe work environment.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to the Physician Assistant /Nurse Practitioner for Employee Occupational Health Services (EOHS)


Qualifications :

Graduation from an accredited nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing or found to be substantially equivalent to the Maryland programs. Currently licensed as an RN in the State of Maryland. Successful completion of a refresher course within the past six months if nursing practice has not occurred within the last five years. Prefer one year experience in the outpatient setting or employee health but not required. Basic life support certification required.

Working Conditions

Work inside a clinic setting with a fast paced environment. Experiences frequent interruptions and multiple demands. Potential for minimal exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials requiring the observance of Standard (Universal) Precautions and safe handling practices of blood and body fluids. This position has been classified as a low or no exposure risk to Tuberculosis (TB) and does not require completion of annual skin testing for TB. May require performing just in time fit testing and powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) training if the need arises.

Physical Requirements

Requires sitting approximately 25% of the time; requires frequent short distance walking and standing. Frequent bending and reaching for supplies documents etc.; includes heavy lifting and carrying weight up to 40 pounds. Position requires manual dexterity for operating computer keyboard and office equipment. Visual acuity is necessary to read vaccine labels medications charts and documents.
