Womens Safety Services SA (WSSSA) is a leading provider of support services for women and children experiencing domestic & family violence. THE ROLE

Our Domestic Violence Crisis Line (DVCL) is a fast paced busy and intensive 24/7 telephone service providing state-wide crisis responses to women and their children experiencing Domestic & Family Violence.


The DVCL requires a Domestic & Family Violence responder who is available to work across a 24/7 roster. The successful applicant must be available to work a fortnightly base roster across day afternoon night and weekends. Our responders triage calls conduct risk assessments and provide a specialist crisis first response to callers seeking safety.


Use your knowledge and understanding of domestic and family violence to provide information referrals and support to callers experiencing domestic and family violence.

An opportunity for a variety of available shifts on a part-time fixed term contract.

ABOUT YOU

Youre passionate about human rights and in particular the safety of people whove experienced domestic or family violence; youre inquisitive and astute at assessing needs quickly and making clear and concise decisions. If this sounds like you - wed love to hear from you!

To succeed in this exciting and demanding role you will need:

  • Hold or be studying towards a degree level qualification in Social Work or hold a tertiary degree in a related discipline with commensurate experience with the position;
  • Strong interpersonal skills & initiative to problem solve and initiate planned responses.
  • The ability to do shift work to a 24/7 roster including day afternoon night and weekend shift.
  • An understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing domestic or family violence
  • A capacity to work under pressure and at times autonomously.
  • A current drivers licence and be eligible for or hold a DHS Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance.

We will also look favourably upon:

  • Demonstrated experience within the specialist domestic and family violence sector or working with those who have been impacted by domestic family and sexual violence.
  • Understanding of risk assessments and safety management strategies.
  • Previous Helpline workplace experiences e.g lifeline 1800 respect.
