  • Employment Term: Maximum Term to 30 June 2026 Part-Time (45.6 hours per fortnight)

  • Location: Hybrid - Maroochydore & Work from Home

Your part in our UnitingCare team

The Sunshine Coast Integrated Family Safety Response Service is a specialist Domestic Family Violence service within Uniting Care. The Womens Advocate/Counsellor role prioritises the safety of women children and family members who are impacted by domestic and family violence. This role involves undertaking risk assessments safety planning provides support counselling information sharing and referrals to external and internal services and agencies to meet identified needs of women children and relevant family members whose partner or former partner are engaged in the behaviour and sustaining change programs with UnitingCare.

What makes a difference for us

  • Tertiary Qualifications (minimum of a bachelors degree) in Counselling Psychology or Human Service-related field

  • A minimum of two years experience professional experience working in a relevant field i.e.. domestic family and sexual violence; criminal justice including corrections; child protection; human services; counselling or other related fields.

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations such as The Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 Section 5A Information Sharing and the Child Protection Act 1999 and an understanding of the Family Law Act.

  • A gendered analysis of violence in their practice acknowledging that recognition of the complex ways in which children are harmed through Domestic Family Violence

  • An ability to apply current theory and practice relating to Domestic Family Violence to conduct risk assessments develop plans around safety and needs identified is essential to this position

  • Blue Card for Child Related Employment

  • Current Drivers Licence

  • Registration or eligible membership with an appropriate professional body (e.g. AASW; APS; PACFA Member Association) will be highly regarded
