Job Summary

Maintenance Foreman

Position Description:
The Maintenance Foreman is responsible for assisting the Director of Maintenance in preventative maintenance programs and coordination of all areas of renovation and repair. The position can require extended or on call work hours due to emergencies or extenuating circumstances related to safety oroperational routine.

Reports To:
Director of Maintenance

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Organizes and implements work schedule prepared by Director of Maintenance.
  • Responsible for on site management of contractors in all facilities.
  • Maintains maintenance service contractor evaluation and performance criteria.
  • Determines material needs through job review in preparation for staff mechanic work.
  • Provides timely project and work status reports as directed.
  • Ensures code application to all work performed.
  • Reviews service contractor and supplier invoice submittals for accuracy.
  • Evaluates and responds to emergency repair request.
  • Develops working sketches from blue prints.
  • Ensures quality control in all areas of repair.
  • Will be available and participates in a scheduled weekly duty roster.
  • Will be available and performs duties assigned after hours weekends and holidays as may be determined by the Director of Maintenance.
  • Coordinates emergency activities and services with the Chief Operations Officer and the Director of
  • Maintenance.
  • Responds to online maintenance request in a timely manner.
  • Responsible to carry and answers system issued phone before during and after normal work hours
  • due to emergencies or extenuating circumstances related to safety or operational routine.
  • Routinely inspects maintains and cleans maintenance used vehicles.
  • Ensures vehicle supplies and equipment such as gas oil water tire lights and brakes are in proper
  • working conditions. Reports immediately any deficiencies or need for service to the Director of
  • Maintenance.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.

Skills and Qualifications:
We seek detail-oriented independent self-starters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations. Successful candidates will also demonstrate and/or possess:

  • 5 years of progressively increasing experience in maintenance and facilities services.
  • Valid drivers license. Have knowledge of driving laws interpreting traffic signals and signs. Must
  • have good driving record.
  • Strong communication skills in multiple settings and the ability to be an engaging change agent and
  • culture creator that can inspire and motivate.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative
  • data to make decisions and recommendations.
  • Collaborative management style with a proven track record of working with diverse individuals at all
  • levels to drive decision-making and results.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance regulations pertaining to health safety and
  • environmental standards.
  • 5 years of experience in construction and renovation as a Journeyman.
  • Thorough knowledge of building trades.
  • Ability to read blue prints and translate to crafts.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance regulations pertaining to health safety and
  • environmental standards.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in utilizing database management programs designed to complete and maintain facilities.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Ten years of experience in construction project management
  • Masters Class A or other mechanical license or degree identifying person as expert in construction.

Physical Involvement:
Sitting is required to drive a truck for the maintenance facility to schools and administrative facilities on both the east and west banks of the river and Grand Isle. Sitting can vary in duration from five minutes to two hours. Climbing step ladders extension ladders stairs and scaffolding are routinely required. This climbing often includes carrying of tools building materials etc. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing walking reaching bending lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools work locations and meeting sites. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of
work locations.
