As an intern in Cell and Plant Technologyyou will work together with researchersatthe department of Cell to plant technology. Your mainobjectiveduring your internship will be to set up andoptimizea protocolin the field of protoplast technology. To achieve your goal you will dive into literature and consult your colleagues at ENZA Zadenultimately leadingto an experimental proposal and testing inlaboratoryenvironment.

Due to your inquisitive and persistent nature you are able to determine the right approach by testing different techniques and you prove yourself to be a future researcher Enza Zaden will be able to move forward in this interesting subject! You will be ofgreat valueto the (Senior) Researcher Cell and Plant Technology who is also your supervisor.

Department

At Cell and Plant Technology (C&P Tech) we cooperate with Breeding and other Biotechnology departments to deliver plants with various genetic value. Within research we focus on developing protocols that enable us to copy fix generate new genetics and to accelerate plant life cycles. Once we have established these protocols we work closely with our production team to run them in a routine environment and transforming these protocols into products that can be used by the various Breeding/Biotechnology teams. We have experience in doubled haploid production micropropagation plant transformation mutagenesis protoplast-based technologies embryo rescue and speed breeding. We are keen on expanding our technology portfolio by exploring advances in the above-mentioned techniques as well as adding new crops.

Driven by yourcuriosityyou like to dig into a challenging research question. You love to find out how biologicalprocesses exactlyworkwhile keeping practical applicabilityin mind. You want to learn more about plant& cellbiology and about how this field of research can contribute tothegenerationof vegetable varieties. Of course you are also able to workaccurately as you are dealing with sensitive protocols and live is easy for you tomaintainfocus keep an eye on the end-goaland deliver you will work in an international team you are eager to work and learn together.

In Short You Meet the Following Requirements

• areanHBO plant-/cell-biologyor biotechnologystudent.
• have laboratory and sterile handlingexperience;
• are interested in plantbiologyand breeding;
• areanindependentworker with initiative;
• knowledge in python programming is a plus;
• are available for aperiod of minimal 6 months preferably starting inJanuary 2025
• speak Englishfluently.
