Job Summary

General Description:

The Swine Maintenance Technician position provides maintenance support to our growing territory of swine production facilities. Job duties include completing maintenance work orders and preventative maintenance at our swine facilities.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Complete repairs in swine facilities related to plumbing carpentry electrical hardware / gating heating and cooling systems
- Plumbing
  - Toilets
  - Showers
  - Bathroom
  - Water heater
  - Water lines for swine facilities
  - Heating and cooling systems
- Carpentry
  - Framing
  - Roofing
  - Concrete
- Electrical
  - 120 and 240 voltages
    1. Light switches outlets
  - Wiring fan and feed line motors
  - Curtain machines
- Hardware/Gating
  - Bolts
  - Gate feet (bolting gates to concrete slats)
- Welding
  - Repair of feeders and gates
  - Fabrication of materials

Manage tools and parts inventories in service vehicles to enable timely completion of work orders.
Prioritize work orders to ensure high priority tasks are repaired first.
Safely work with hand and power tools to complete work orders.
Adhere to pig owners strict bio-security and animal well-being standards.
Perform duties in a safe manner and follow all safety policies.
Maintain positive relationships with clients vendors visitors neighbors and co-workers.
All other duties assigned by Manager.

Work Skill Requirements:

Must be mechanical minded
Ability to trouble shoot and utilize resources to problem solve issues
Welding ability is not required but preferred
Comfortable working around livestock
Work with limited or no supervision

Physical Requirements:

Required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel crouch.
The employee must be able to continuously repeat necessary movements such as bending lifting and different hand movements as needed to complete tasks.
Ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds frequently and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb up ladders and over gates.
Ability to climb on and off livestock trailers that can be as short as 40 inches in height.

Work Environment:

This position is performed inside swine facilities with the occasional need for some tasks to be performed in outside weather conditions.
As times exposure to loud noises along with dust and fumes particularly in Winter months.

Position Type:

This position is full time working Monday-Friday with the occasional weekend work with the additional availability during weather and staffing challenges.

Education/Experience:

Working knowledge of three to six months of general maintenance
Valid drivers license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
Valid Unrestricted Class A Commercial Drivers License preferred not required
