What we are looking for

Senior level project implementation experience in humanitarian/recovery complex and volatile contexts. Technical education expertise and familiarity with education minimum standards is required as well as knowledge and understanding of humanitarian standards such as INEE and Sphere.

Experience in shaping and scaling up education in emergencies expertise with assessments and developing response strategies experience with partnership-based approaches coordination and holistic programme designs.

People management and experience in team development is also necessary for this position.

What you will do

The Education Project Manager is responsible for the implementation of Education projects and activities in North-Eastern Ukraine in line with NRCs strategy and standards. The position

encompasses team management project cycle management capacity building ensuring integrated programming and coordination with key stakeholders.

The position reports to the Area Programme Manager with technical guidance from the Education Specialist and is responsible for the overall management of the North-East area Education team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of Country Area and Core Competency (CC) strategies initiate and participate in the development of relevant Education projects as well as Identify new opportunities for programming synergies with the other CCs and partnerships.

  • Coordinate and manage Education project implementation (EiE activities budget

procurement and project documentation) in line with proposals strategies donor

requirements and NRC policies guidelines and procedures.

  • Provide regular progress reports to the Area Programme Manager and the Education

  • Specialist. Take a lead role in developing mid-year and annual donor reports ensuring high-quality content and timely submission.

  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection explore and assess new and better ways to assist.

  • Develop and manage project budgets (in cooperation with the Education Coordinators) and coordinate across other Core Competencies

  • Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects. Ensure programme quality and implementation of NRCs Safe and Inclusive schools Programme guaranteeing gender and protection mainstreaming and safe and inclusive programming criteria

  • Provide leadership direction and support to the Education team. Line manage and ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.

  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders.

  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection explore and assess new and better ways to assist while promoting the rights of displaced people in line with the advocacy strategy.

  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards & principles within NRC and amongst beneficiaries served by NRC.

What you will bring

  • Minimum 3 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context with experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.

  • Technical education expertise and familiarity with education minimum standards with Knowledge and understanding of humanitarian standards such as INEE and Sphere.

  • Experience in shaping and scaling up education in emergencies projects including

assessments and developing response strategies.

  • Experience with partnership-based approaches coordination and holistic programme

designs.

  • Knowledge of the humanitarian context in Ukraine.

  • Experience working with local authorities humanitarian actors host community and

displaced populations.

  • Experience with applying ICT tools in assessments for analysis documentation and

reporting. Report writing skills including analysis.

  • Experience with developing proposals budgets work plans and monitoring and evaluation.

  • Experience with team leadership capacity building and team building of staff and community mobilization.

  • Fluency in English both written and verbal Fluency in Ukrainian Knowledge of Russian language is an asset.

  • Valid drivers license

  • Travel: Up to 30% to field locations.

  • Salary/benefits: Grade 8 on NRCs grading structure.
