About the Role
The primary purpose of the Medical Technologist Hematology is to independently perform both routine and complex laboratory analyses with precision and accuracy. This role is responsible for ensuring procedural and system controls troubleshooting and problem-solving as well as contributing to teaching and supervision under the direction of leadership. Technologists provide physicians with timely accurate and reliable results that are essential for the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Responsibilities
What Youll Do
- Perform and demonstrate proficiency in routine and complex laboratory testing in accordance with SOPs and departmental standards.
- Thoroughly process analyze and report results including timely communication of critical values (within 15 minutes) and prioritization of STAT specimens.
- Conduct and document quality control procedures; identify troubleshoot and resolve deviations or equipment issues.
- Perform scheduled equipment calibration maintenance and troubleshooting; log all actions per SOP.
- Prepare maintain and monitor reagent and supply inventory; ensure proper storage and prevent workflow interruptions.
- Participate in teaching and training programs for students and staff as needed.
- Maintain productivity standards while adhering to hospital compliance safety and regulatory requirements.
- Stay current with federal state and institutional regulations and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What Youll Bring
Required:
- Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or a related field (required).
- ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.
Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)
In compliance with New Jerseys Pay Transparency Act the hourly rate for this position is $41.00.
