The award-winning Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is currently hiring for a Library Aide II with the Laughlin Library.
General Summary
Under general supervision the Library Aide II interfaces with a wide variety of internal and external customersto support general library operations. The Library Aide II assists with lending and collecting library materialsregistering new customers issuing library cards assisting with customer accountssorting and reshelving library materials answering routine customer questions and teachingcustomers how to use library resources (Intermediate). The Library Aide II will be offering collection developmentsuggestions helping plan and participate in library programs perform a variety oftransactional duties in accordance with established policies procedures and practices.Typically reports to supervisory level Library Operations position.
Description of Hours and Wages:
The pay range for this position is$20.95 to $28.07per hour. Pay typically begins at the minimum of the pay range and employees are eligible for annual merit and COLA increases per District policy.
This is a part-time19 hours per week FLSA non-exempt position.

Essential Duties & Responsibiliites:
1. Sort and reshelve returned books periodicals and other materials.
2. Operate library efficiencies. (Basic)
3. Teach customers how to use library resources. (Basic)
4. Perform routine clerical tasks such as answering phones and organizing fileshandling register.
5. Assists customers in the selection and location of the library collections using Libraryof Congress Classifications. (Basic)
6. Participate in library programs.
7. Answer frequently asked questions from internal and external customers relative tobranch layout procedures and practices and collections. (Basic)
8. Integrated Library System (ILS) and assist customers with checkout and check-in.(Basic)
9. Answer frequently asked questions from internal and external customers relative tobranch procedures and practices and collections. (Intermediate)
10. Operate library ILS and efficiencies. (Intermediate)
11. Register new patrons and issue library cards.
12. Handle interlibrary loans.
13. Helps plan and provides input in programs and outreach.
14. Assists patrons in the selection and location of the library collections using Libraryof Congress Classifications. (Intermediate)
15. Provides collection development suggestions for weeding and participates incollection orders under the direct supervision.

Education:
Required:High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).

Required:Two (2) years of experience as a Library Aide I or equivalent position.

Physical Requirements:
Although work is performed in an office setting alimited amount of walking or standing is often necessary to carry out job duties.Tasks may involve frequent walking standing bending reaching stooping and somelifting and carrying objects of moderate weight (20 - 50 pounds).
