Overview
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Admissions and in collaboration with the Senior Admissions Coordinator the Admissions Counselor assumes responsibility for the day-to-day processing of all applicants to the College of Osteopathic Medicine including but not limited to counseling prospective students coordinating interview days and assisting with the development of and attendance at various recruitment events as well as other duties as assigned. This position requires some travel (approximately 20%).
Responsibilities
Recurring Tasks: The Admissions Counselor reviews all application materials submitted by COM applicants to determine the appropriate action required from the Admissions and Standards Committee and will track each applicant through to matriculation. The Admissions Counselor is responsible for most correspondence between the Committee and the applicant. The Admissions Counselor will counsel applicants with regards to their academic professional and personal experiences insofar as those experiences relate to their applications to the university. The Admissions Counselor will assist with the development of COM-specific recruitment activities both on- and off-campus and will assess each activity.
Periodic Assignments: The Admissions Counselor will assist with university-level events such as Orientation and Commencement. Other duties to be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATION(S): is the Education Training and/or related experience needed by the person to perform the job.
An Associates Degree is required; a Bachelors degree is strongly preferred. Clear competency in both oral and written communication excellent customer service skills and a professional appearance are required. Business experience in a high-volume office environment and public relations experience is strongly preferred.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong organizational and administrative skills. Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in stressful situations. Basic mathematical abilities including the use of simple statistics in discovering/projecting trends.
