The Labor & Delivery RN provides comprehensive obstetric care to laboring patients postpartum mothers and newborns in a community hospital L&D environment. This role requires a minimum of 1 year of recent L&D experience strong fetal monitoring competency the ability to circulate for C-sections and proficiency with emergency obstetric situations such as hemorrhage hypertensive disorders and high-risk deliveries. EPIC charting is required. Travelers must be willing to float to like units (Mother/Baby Antepartum) and work rotating weekends. First-time travelers accepted.
Responsibilities:Provide direct care to laboring antepartum and postpartum patients with an expected 1:2 ratio.
Perform and interpret fetal monitoring (external/internal) IUPC calibration* and recognition/treatment of abnormal FHR patterns.
Assist with labor management including sterile vaginal exams induction/augmentation Pitocin titration and magnesium sulfate therapy.
Assist and support high-risk deliveries vaginal births operative deliveries (forceps/vacuum) and obstetric emergencies.
Circulate for C-sections and recover post-operative C-section patients; scrub duties preferred*.
Administer and manage medications including antihypertensives tocolytics prostaglandins terbutaline insulin drips anticoagulants and emergency medications.
Provide comprehensive neonatal support including APGAR scoring thermoregulation cord sample collection newborn assessments hypoglycemia management and neonatal resuscitation.
Manage postpartum patients including coupled care fundal assessments wound/incision care breastfeeding support Foley management and hemorrhage prevention/intervention.
Perform OB triage assessments NSTs and antepartum monitoring.
Maintain accurate documentation using Epic.
Float to related units including L&D Mother/Baby and OB Triage as needed.
Participate in weekend rotations and work on-call (pending final confirmation).
Minimum 1 year recent L&D nursing experience.
Ratios: 1:2.
EPIC charting required.
First-time travelers accepted.
Weekends required.
Floating required between L&D Mother/Baby and like units.
Pending RN license not accepted.
Travel experience not required.
Locals accepted.
RTO must be submitted at time of profile.
Guaranteed hours: may be called off once per 2-week pay period.
On-call: pending confirmation from manager.
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program (ASN ADN BSN).
Additional obstetric or fetal monitoring coursework preferred.
Minimum 1 year recent L&D experience in acute obstetric settings.
