Primary Purpose:
The Director of Safety and Security is responsible for directing and administering the implementation of effective safety and security programs.
Qualifications/Skills Needed:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of five years related experience and/or training in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven leadership skills.
Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on team building and interdepartmental collaboration.
Valid drivers license in good standing.
Primary Duties (Essential Functions) include but are not limited to:
Responsible for assuring the overall quality and efficiency of security and safety activities in compliance with established standards policies and procedures. Monitors the activities of the security officers through written and verbal reports to ensure appropriate and timely response to events.
Maintains an effective and skilled group of security officers. Recruit talented staff and ensure that employees are well trained and focused on the delivery of exceptional customer service while performing their duties consistently and timely.
Direct and administer all Safety and Security operations and functions to include but not limited to preserving the safety and security of the residents guests and employees on all MHKY properties.
Promote safe work practices OSHA compliance safety training systems use and management budgeting department management. Adhere to all applicable federal state and local standards.
Direct and administer the patrol of the campus to observe and resolve potential safety risks security risks and undesirable conditions.
Direct and lead investigations of accidents thefts property loss and unlawful activities
Direct response to emergency situations including but not limited to safety hazards fires medical emergencies and threats to life and/or property.
In collaboration with Risk Management ensure campus emergency preparedness plans are current communicated appropriately to employees and residents and drills are carried out.
Serve as primary liaison with federal state and local law enforcement and coordinate with EMS and fire as appropriate.
Oversee response to resident pendant alarms for Independent Living communities.
Provide safety/security education to employees and residents
Assist with conducting security assessments and provide oversight on implementation of needed changes.
Develop and oversee departmental budget.
Collaborate with IT on employee and visitor badge access.
Oversee driver competency testing program.
Respond to resident and guest inquiries and requests and resolve guest issues in a timely friendly and efficient manner.
