Job Summary

Healthcare Australia is seeking an experienced Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Registered Nurse to join our Primary Health Services team within a detention environment. This rewarding role focuses on delivering comprehensive evidence-based primary healthcare that supports detainees experiencing addiction and substance-related health challenges.

Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary healthcare team youll play a key role in improving health outcomes through holistic assessments coordinated care planning education and referral management - always with a strong foundation in dignity respect and person-centred practice.

Employment Type: Full-time & Part-time

Work Days & Hours: Monday to Sunday - No night shifts!

  • AM: 8:00 am 4:00 pm

How Youll Make an Impact! 

  • Participate in the assessment planning and implementation of care based on individual detainee AOD needs incorporating a holistic approach to primary health care service delivery.
  • Undertake a wide range of clinical duties including but not limited to AOD health assessments care planning medication administration health promotion and education etc ensuring care is evidence based and delivered using clinical guidelines and practice to underpin competency.
  • Work in collaboration with the primary health care team to ensure a multidisciplinary coordinated and integrated approach to service delivery.
  • Undertake person centred nursing assessments utilising a range screening and clinical assessment tools.

Lets talk about you!

Youll hold current AHPRA registration and relevant qualifications with at least five years of clinical experience in Mental Health. A post-graduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing is essential along with a strong commitment to person-centred care. Youll be available to work across Monday to Sunday and experience within a detention or correctional setting will be highly regarded.
