Is a career in public finance and business administration in your plans How about a day filled with a variety of tasks Are you an organized detail-oriented multitasker The Department of Vermont Health Access (DVHA) seeks a Financial Administrator I to join its 14-person Business Office and provide a path forward in succession planning.


Work in a supportive work environment with a Monday-Friday schedule eleven paid state holidays in addition to a robust benefits package.

This position is located in the state office complex in Waterbury.

A successful candidate must recognize and implement best practices for business office operations and internal controls to benefit Office Suite specifically Excel are heavily relied upon; intermediate or advanced skills in these programs are preferred.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the accordance with AHS Policy 4.02 Hiring Standards Vermont and/or national criminal record checks as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks as appropriate to the position under recruitment will be conducted on candidates with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of accounting experience maintaining reviewing and analyzing financial data and records.

OR

Associates degree in accounting business/office administration AND two (2) years or more of accounting experience maintaining reviewing and analyzing financial data and records.

OR

Bachelors degree in accounting business/office administration.

OR

One (1) year or more of experience as a Financial Specialist III with the State of Vermont.

NOTE: All levels of required accounting experience unless otherwise noted must have been performed to ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and standards.

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
