The Student Assistance Business Solutions Group works as part of CSDS and is currently seeking a highly energetic and team-oriented individual for the position Developer / Sr. Systems Analyst to join the team. This challenging position has responsibilities spanning the whole Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to design develop and maintain business applications in various domains. You may lead and supervise junior developers in various tasks and projects. It will be attractive to innovative professionals with a strong desire to contribute to the effective and efficient applications of information technology that will support the successful achievements of client goals and objectives.
Developer / Sr. Systems Analyst plays a leading role to ensure that new and existing business applications meet the need of business clients as well are developed and maintained using Nova Scotia Government standards and methodology. You will be joining a dedicated high-performing team that supports a diverse group of programs for Student Assistance. You must be a result driven team-player with previous experience in a support organization who can manage the demands of keeping the lights on while delivering new enhancements.
To be successful in this role youll have a bachelors degree in computer science plus a minimum of 3 years related experience or graduation from a recognized Information Technology program plus a minimum of 3 years and 6 months related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Youll also have knowledge and expertise in business system analysis and design SDLC methodology IT principles including hardware and software architecture networking and communications database design information security change management and configuration management.
You must possess superior communication skills (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills as well as demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with clients staff peers and management. You will be flexible and adaptable to ever changing priorities and new technology. You must have proven proficiency and track record in Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle databases and application design and development ( and WinForms) using Microsoft Visual Studio (preference VB). In addition you must demonstrate a high degree of logical problem-solving ability design and programming discipline and good organizational / planning skills for task and project management including the determination of schedules assignments and project deadlines.
You will also possess technical expertise and experience with developing solutions using Microsoft technologies and development tools; and relational database modelling.

The position requires the flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced changing environment and the ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner. As many projects are provincial in scope some travel may be required. On call duties may be requested but are not expected except in the capacity as an escalation point for subject matter expertise.
Pay Grade: PR 14
Salary Range: $2653.85- $3231.58Bi-Weekly
